We are now offering botox for facial therapeutics, temporomandibular joint disorder, bruxism, and facial pain!! We are very excited to offer this additional service so patients can benefit from the amazing results of botox.
According to the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine, dentists already have a working knowledge of facial anatomy, structure, nerves and muscles. Therefore, it makes sense that they would have the knowledge and credentials to administer Botox.
What is botox?
When people think of botox they often associate it with ideas like having a "frozen face" or something famous people do to stay young. While a youthful look is a wonderful side effect of the botox treatments we perform, it is not the primary reason for the treatment here at Norge Dental. Botox is actually a manufactured injectable protein and medication that is used therapeutically to reduce the strength of targeted muscles.
How does this apply to our patients?
With botox, we can actually target the muscles of the forehead and temporal region to reduce headaches caused by things like grinding. Some pts don't even realize they actually grind their teeth, but it has been a proven cause of tension headaches and migraines. We can also very accurately target the masseter muscle(the large muscle you feel when you grit your teeth) whereby reducing grinding AND reducing the overall look of the size of the jawline. It helps to improve smile aesthetics and phonetics, and can complement various dental procedures such as crowns and implants.
Why choose Norge Dental Center and not somewhere else? And why see a dentist for Botox?
At Norge Dental Center, we take education very seriously and we always want the best outcome for our patients. Plus, we stare at faces all day everyday, so we understand the anatomy. Our job as dentists is to look at every aspect of the head and neck. We understand facial muscle movement and how that relates and improves things like phonetics and lip structure. Dentists spend years studying the anatomy of the head and neck. This is why Dr. Amber Hogan and Dr. Sarah Stulen received their education and certification in botulinum toxin and dermal fillers from the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and are continuing members of the organization. The AAFE are leaders in the use of botox and dermal fillers, and travel globally teaching healthcare professionals how to properly apply this treatment to their patients.
What can I expect at my consultation appt and will I get same day treatment?
If you are interested in botox treatments, you will want to schedule an appt with either Dr. Hogan or Dr. Stulen to have an individualized exam where they will assess your concerns, and determine the areas you are interested in treating. Depending on your health history and expectations, treatment can and may be administered the same day. The procedure is minimally invasive and requires little downtime. Patients can return to work after the procedure, but are asked to refrain from exercising and excess sweating.
