“I firmly believe that the best treatment decisions are made by patients who are well-informed and who know their doctor earnestly supports and wants the best for them.”
The field of dentistry is constantly changing. New technology and research provide us with new answers every day. This is one of Dr. Mark Crocker’s favorite things about the profession. He loves to learn about new materials, techniques, and surgical practices within the dentistry field. One of the reasons he chose to work at Norge Dental Center was because he recognized another lifetime learner in Dr. Johnston. For Dr. Crocker, having someone to “nerd out” about dentistry with is the perfect working environment. Learning is not just reserved for dentists, however. Dr. Crocker has a firm belief that the best person to make a decision about treatment is a well-informed patient. Dr. Crocker recognizes that two people with the same exact problems can have very different experiences and situations – and therefore two different treatment plans. “I’m here to explain the situation and treatment options,” he says. “My role is to support patients in the best decision for them. It’s not the Dr. Crocker show – to me, it’s your life and your decision.” In Washington D.C., he worked for City Smiles, where he focused on crowns and veneers. Virginia has been home for some time, as he also worked at Midlothian Family Dentistry where he focused on surgical extractions, implant placement and sedation dentistry. “I love my job, from the people and the relationships to the technical side,” says Dr. Crocker. He loves being a dentist and helping make lives and smiles better.
